Mary passed away peacefully in the early morning of Monday, Feb. 28, 2022 at the age of 97. She was born in Odessa, SK, the fifth child of Josephine (Kopp) Fahlman and John Fahlman.
Mary was predeceased by her parents; her loving husband, Henry Teibler; daughters, Linda Prochner and Patricia Teibler; and siblings, Florence (John) Gottselig, John (Barbara) Fahlman, Tony (Signe) Fahlman, Peter (Lena) Fahlman, Bill Fahlman, Madeline Gottselig; and her sister-in-law, Miss Mary Teibler.
Mary is survived by her children: Bill Teibler, Judy (Don) Williamson, Kathy (Ron) Lylyk, Betty (Grant) Lange; son-in-law, Ken Prochner; seven grandchildren, Jayme, Joshua (Charlene), Tammy, Catherine (Fabian), Jesse (Amy), Dawn (Corey), Robert (Crystal); great grandchildren; Kaitlyn, Connor, Gaige, Abigail, Lillian, Jack, Bryson and Henry;sister-in-law, Emily Fahlman; brother-in-law, Aloysius Gottselig; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Mary grew up on the family farm north of Indian Head, SK and attended Wide Awake School. She told us many stories of her school days and life on the farm; milking cows, working in the fields alongside her dad and brothers, and helping her mother with meals for the threshing gang at harvest time. There was ice skating on the dam with her siblings and neighbors, bowling, barn dances, picnics, house parties, attending church every Sunday morning and visiting with family and friends in the afternoon.
Mary met Henry Teibler of Indian Head. They were married on Nov. 10, 1948, and for a short time lived in Virden, MB, then moved back to Indian Head. It was here where they raised their family of six children.
Mary was a strong woman of faith. She was a charter member of St. Joseph’s CWL receiving her 65 year pin in 2019. She made many life-long friendships during these years. Mary worked in housekeeping for many years at Motel 61 which later became the Shayne Inn. She enjoyed these years and cherished her memories of the fun she had working with her co-workers. Mary was an excellent cook and gardener. She made the best cabbage rolls, perogies, and apple pie; one of her nieces said the best dill pickles too! She enjoyed card games and cribbage, she belonged to Canasta and Bunco clubs and community whist. Mary never missed a chance to socialize. In her later years she enjoyed watching curling on TV. We made sure not to phone her when a game was on! Family was very important to her. She was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. She resided in her home up until the last eight months of her life.
