Date of Birth: June 7, 1957

Date of Death: December 15, 2021

Allan Harold Mathies, age 64, died peacefully on Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2021, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Allan was born on June 7, 1957, in Melville, SK, to George and Doris Mathies. Allan married the love of his life, Linda, on Oct. 29, 1976. Together they took over the family farm near Killaly, where they raised their three children – Jennifer, Kim and Nathan. They ran a mixed farm from 1977- 2009. Allan loved all kinds of animals – they raised cattle, horses, chickens, ducks, sheep and llamas, to name just a few.
In 2009, Allan retired from farming, and they moved to Melville. Since you could never take him “off the farm”, he soon purchased some land closer to town so he could tinker, garden and have a smaller herd of cattle. There was never a trip to Grandma and Papa’s without a visit to the “farm” to have some fun with the animals, quads and ski-doos. Allan’s greatest pride and joy were his kids and grandkids. Their house was always a revolving door with visitors. Allan had a great sense of humour and was always the first one to start the watergun fights. He was also a master negotiator when buying something, and he always made sure he got a free hat out of the deal.
Allan is survived by his wife, Linda; his children, Jennifer, son Nicholas; Kim (Dave), children Ava and Joshua; and Nathan (Tricia), children Henry and Violet; brothers Ray (Carol) and Larry (Valdeen); sisters Marilyn and Karen (Brian); in-laws Larry (Joanne), Shirley (Doug) and Phyllis (Bruce); and numerous nieces and nephews. Our family would like to thank the staff of St. Peter’s hospital for their kindness and compassion during this difficult time. As per Allan’s
request, there will be a small family graveside service.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
