Eugenia Maria Ottenbreit (Leik) passed away peacefully in her sleep Tuesday, Sept. 21, 2021 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.
She was born on June 17, 1931 in Killaly, Sask. to Peter and Daisy (Hanowski) Leik. She was the fourth of nine children.
Mom grew up on the family farm and attended school in Killaly. She met the love of her life, John Ottenbreit, and they were married on Oct. 26, 1949. They were blessed with five daughters. Mom and Dad worked hard and played hard. They loved to travel and most of all they loved spending time with their family. We were all able to celebrate her 90th birthday together with her this past June. After dad passed away, Mom became very involved with the Rosary Sodality and CWL.
Eugenia was predeceased by her loving husband John in 1996; sons-in-law, Dennis Exner in 1989 and Allan Ottenbreit in 2005; her parents, Peter and Daisy (Hanowski) Leik; her brothers and sisters, Ella (Adam) Kreiser, Anita (Jake) Gerhardt, Evelyn (George) Wihlidal, Elsie (Edwin) Rogalski, Christine (Bill) Paidel, Kelly (Shirley) Leik, Diane Stocker and Bill Leik.
To honor her memory, Eugenia leaves her five daughters: Maxine Ottenbreit, Myra Exner and Brad Exner, Marina and Jim Besler, Denise and Colin Ottenbreit, Lisa and Scott Orr; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, Neil (Nadine) Ottenbreit, Brenae, Alexa: Aaron Exner, Linden, Kamryn, Marcus; Tennille (Todd) Young, Tyler, Heidi; Jaret (Brandy) Besler, Braedyn, Rylen, Jace; Joshua (Tiffany) Besler, Vivian, Watson; Coralie Ottenbreit; Tyson (Raelene) Ottenbreit, Jennaya, Kailey, Jordyn; Kristin (Mike) Paska; Morgan (David) Luba, Jenner Tangjerd, step-granddaughters, Jessica and Amber Orr; brother-in-law, Victor Stocker; sister-in-law, Marlene Leik.
The funeral mass was celebrated on Friday, Sept. 24, 2021 from St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church in Melville with Father Andrew Sowa, OMI, as the Celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Service, Melville.
