William (Bill) Jones passed away suddenly on Sunday, Oct. 18, 2026, in Regina, SK, at the age of 84.
Bill was born January 5, 1942, in Yorkton, SK, to Bill and Ellen (Duns) Jones and was raised in Melville, SK. After high school, Bill took an accounting course in Saskatoon. He worked in Esterhazy for two years before returning to settle in Melville, where he worked at Skilnick and Partners as a Certified Management Accountant until retirement.
Bill married Bente Nielsen on October 10, 1970. They have two daughters and three grandchildren, who brought him great joy.
Bill enjoyed working with numbers and took great pride in his work as an accountant. He was also very meticulous with the garden and yard. Bill and Bente had a cabin at Crooked Lake, where they spent spring through fall enjoying the beauty of the Qu’Appelle Valley.
In retirement, Bill found great pleasure travelling to watch his granddaughters play basketball and to play Lego with his grandson. He and Bente loved their winter getaways to the Caribbean. He enjoyed preparing taxes for the entire family. He was also an avid reader and loved movies and music.
Bill and Bente moved to Regina in 2024 to be closer to their daughters. He enjoyed the community at Broadway Terrace and Sunday suppers with the family.
Bill was predeceased by his parents, William Owen and Ellen Jones; parents-in-law John and Grethe Nielsen; brother Bob Jones; and sister Sharon Besler. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife of 56 years, Bente; daughter Karen (Brad) Howard of Regina, and their children, Kabree Howard of Saskatoon, and Kylee Howard (Justin Aitken) of Regina; daughter Lynn Jones and her son, Nigel Howse, both of Regina; sister Janet (Gerry) Schappert of Melville; sister Nancy Smith of Winnipeg; sister-in-law Pat Jones of Yorkton; as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He will be deeply missed.
If friends so desire, memorial donations may be made to Lung Saskatchewan or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
At Bill’s request, no funeral will be held at this time.
