It is with great sadness we announce the sudden passing of Winston Sies on Wednesday, April 14, 2021 at 79 years of age.
Winston was born on the family farm near Melville, SK. and spent his early years helping on the homestead. After graduation he took a position in banking, where he rapidly advanced through the various levels from clerk to branch manager. Desiring a career change, he explored various sales and bookkeeping positions. Ultimately it was in accounting where he found his true passion, and he was immensely proud to be a Certified General Accountant. Throughout his career, Winston never forgot his farming roots, and always enjoyed reminiscing or discussing the new innovations in agriculture, particularly with his extended family.
Winston was a leader in many ways. You could count on him to coach, officiate, lead a youth group, participate in various associations, or serve as CGA president.
Winston was devoted to God and he looked upon the church as an extended family. There he enjoyed fellowship, performing in variety nights and assisting with various administrative duties.
Winston married the love of his life, Elaine, in June 1967 and they had four children. He was a devoted family man, and he was the epitome of patience, kindness and caring. His love for his children and grandchildren was always evident and unconditional.
Winston was predeceased by his parents, Samuel and Katherine Sies; brothers, Victor, Gordon, Richard and
Arthur; and sisters, Regina and Irene.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Elaine Sies; his children, Sheldon (Carol) Sies, Leigha (Darryl) Hovdestad, Alana Henderson, Andrew (Michelle) Sies; grandchildren, Katherine Henderson, Connor Sies, Meghan Henderson, Cassandra Sies, Ashton Sies, Hayden Sies, Amy Hovdestad, Sydney Hovdestad, Dylan Sies; step-grandchildren, Dahlea (Daran) Kohle, Shalene (Mark) Rascher, Alysha (Mike) Hovdestad; his siblings, Mervin (Georgina) Sies, Marion (Glen) Harper; and his sister in-law, Linda Anweiler; as well as a number of beloved nieces, nieces in-law and nephews.
