Victor Frank Haas entered his eternal rest on Sunday, April 11, 2021 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville at the age of 92.
Victor was born March 27, 1929 northwest of Dubuc. Victor was the second youngest of 12 born to Frank and Helen Haas. His family moved to the Mariahilf area south of Killaly in 1931 where he worked hard on the farm, alongside his parents and siblings.
He attended Mariahilf School and graduated in Regina. In 1948, he acquired his Teacher’s Certificate and later his Bachelor of Education Degree from the University of Saskatchewan. He taught in the Melville area until his retirement in 1983.
Victor married Alice on July 26, 1954 at St. Elizabeth Church in Killaly. The marriage was blessed with a son and a daughter. Victor loved dancing, socializing and playing cards. Family trips were some of the best times in his life. He was very proud of his grandchildren and loved them dearly.
Victor had a love of nature and relished life. Although he enjoyed farming, hunting, ice fishing and gardening; he most enjoyed helping others.
Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church on April 19, 2021 at 10 a.m. with Celebrant Rev. Father Andrew Sowa, OMI.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Alice (nee
Beutel); his parents, Frank and Helen (nee Reising); parent in-laws, Martin and Gertrude Beutel (nee Hornung).
Victor was the last surviving child of his family, predeceased by brothers, Joseph, Frank, John, Jack and Bill. his sisters, Annie Baer, Katherine Exner, Emily Mallery,
Gertrude, Mary Krumenacker and Marge Chastkavich; brothers-in-law, Henry Baer, George Exner, Art Mallery, Joe Krumenacker and Joe Chastkavich; sisters-in-law, Helen Haas, Anne Haas, Caroline Haas, Marge Haas and Joyce Englot.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Lyle (Bev) and their children, Logan (Ali) and Erica of Saskatoon; and his daughter, Marcia (Mark) Gelowitz and their children, Ashlyn and Bret of Regina; his in-laws, Joe Englot, Elmer and Yvette Beutel; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral Home, Melville.
