It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved Dad, Papa and brother, James (Jim) Edward Henry Stiglitz on Thursday July 4, 2019.
A celebration of Jim’s life will be held on Saturday, July 13, 2019 at 2:30 p.m. from the Royal Canadian Legion in Melville, Sask.
Jim was born July 1, 1953 to Eric and Shirley (nee Campbell) Stiglitz in Melville where he attended elementary and high school.
Jim left Melville in the mid- 70s and moved to Prince Albert, a city he loved, where he worked at various jobs before starting his career in Corrections with Young Offenders, a job he loved very much.
He began his political career serving on city council in 1994 until 2003 when he was elected mayor of Prince Albert. He served as mayor until October 2006. Jim retired from Corrections in 2012 and later moved back to Melville where he worked for Hallcon Transport until the time of his death.
Jim became involved with the Regional Park board in Melville, as well as chairman for the “Build a Lake” committee.
Jim enjoyed having coffee with old and new friends. He was happiest spending time with his daughter and grandkids.
Jim was predeceased by his parents and grandparents; two siblings at birth; his sister, Jean and brother-in-law, Ray Hotte; brothers-in-law, Herb Bennett and Frank Ward.; as well as his niece and her husband, Denise and Maurice Lavigne.
He is survived by his daughter, Angela; step-sons, Hugh, Jason and Jimmy and their mother, Marg; his grandchildren, Tanisha, Tianna and Harlem; as well as his brother, Gordon (Rose) Stiglitz of Prince Albert; and sisters, Joyce Ward of England, Loralynne Bennett, Kathy (Bob) Stolar and Lee Ann Stiglitz, all of Melville. He is also survived by his Uncle Bryon (MaryAnn) Campbell; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and his special friend, Joanne Halyk.
Jim was loved dearly and will be greatly missed. He will hold a special place in many hearts.
