SETTER – Mary Esther Setter, July 30, 1930 – May 20, 2019.
A memorial service for Mary Setter will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at 2 p.m. from All Saints’ Anglican Church in Melville.
It is with saddened and broken hearts that we had to say our final goodbyes to our mother, Mary Setter, who passed away at the Regina General Hospital on Monday, May 20, 2019 at the age of 88 years.
Mary was the first daughter born on July 30, 1930 to Arthur and Ethel (nee Chapman) Wilkins at Lachine, Que.
She received her education at Central Park School from grades 1 to 6 and Lachine High School from grades 7 to 12.
Mary was united in marriage to Harry Shaw. Harry passed away on Aug. 22, 1968 and then on Aug. 12, 1972 Mary married Russell Willard Setter.
Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her daughters, Deb Aasen and Maureen Shaw; stepdaughters, Cheryl (Roger) Pietracupa, Debbie Setter, Karen Setter (Oren), Judy (Billy) Kozak, Joanne Setter; and step-son, Murray (Wendy) Setter; her special grandchildren and great- grandchildren; brothers, Charles (Joan) and Russell (Lise); sister, Nora Cassidy; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Harry Shaw and Willard Setter; two sons, Murray Shaw and Bradford Shaw; parents, Arthur and Ethel; brothers, George and Clifford (Jan); and brother-in-law, Arthur Cassidy.
Mary’s favorite happy place was sitting on her swing in the backyard with her best friend and companion, her dog, Buddie. They would sit there for hours enjoying the various birds and their singing and admiring the beautiful array of colorful flowers that she grew.
Mary worked in her earlier years as a switchboard operator at St. Peter’s Hospital, later at the Bank of Montreal, lawyer’s office and her final job that she was so proud of was Deputy Sheriff at the Melville Court House.
Her passing has left a huge void for this strong, loving and attentive matriarchy within her family. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.
Arrangements are by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
