Ronald Joseph Exner was born to Joseph and Victoria (nee Hoedel) Exner on Aug. 19, 1950 at Neudorf, Sask.
Ron attended Mariahilf School from grade 1 to 8 and then grade 9 and 10 at the Killaly School and completed his education at St. Henry’s High School in Melville.
While attending school, he helped his parents on the family farm. He started his employment with Co-operators Insurance in Regina, then worked at McGavin’s Bakery. Ron decided to open his own business at Buns Master Bakery in Moose Jaw, Sask. Later he sold his business and worked for CAA until his retirement. He also purchased a farm in Killaly.
Ron enjoyed socializing, travelling, collecting antiques, entertaining, meeting people and anything with a western theme (songs, attire, pictures, etc.) and never missed family events. This is when he decided to make his dream come true and opened his own business the Horse Shoe Saloon. This was Ron’s pride and joy — all the articles he purchased were displayed at the saloon. He continued with the saloon until his health failed and he entered his eternal rest on Sunday, Feb. 3, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville, Sask. at the age of 68 years.
Predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Victoria; brother-in-law, Bill Leik; and great-nephew, Jordan Stoll.
Ron leaves to cherish his memory: his siblings, Arthur (Carol) Exner, Marlene Leik, Lorraine Eckstein (Don Rokosh), Leona Hall, Mervin (Darlene) Exner, Harvey (Fay) Exner, Joanne (Reg) Churko and Sherri (Tim) Stoll; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Prayers were held on Thursday, Feb. 7, 2019 from St. Elizabeth’s R.C. Church in Killaly with Father John Mock officiating.
