LESHKO – Darryl William, Nov. 26, 1953 – Jan. 14, 2019.
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Darryl on Monday, Jan. 14, 2019 at the Pasqua Hospital in Regina.
Darryl leaves behind a legacy of love for his mother and family. Darryl is survived by his mother, Katherine; aunts, Grace, Bonnie, Dianna, Sylvia; uncle, Eugene; and numerous cousins.
He was predeceased by his father, William Leshko; aunts, uncles and cousins.
Darryl received his education at Goodeve and Melville schools and attended the University of Saskatoon where he graduated from the College of Pharmacy in 1975. He operated numerous pharmacies in Melville until his retirement in 2016.
He was an extremely active member on several boards and associations including the Physician Recruitment Committee, Police Advisory Board, recreation board, hospital board, St. Paul Lutheran and Foundation Board, St. Mary The Protectress Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Salvation Army, the Red Cross, Saskatchewan Abilities Council and various cancer support groups.
Darryl was president of the Saskatchewan College of Pharmacy Professionals (SCPP) and was recently a deserving recipient of the highest honour bestowed by the SCPP, an Honorary Life Membership.
Darryl enjoyed travelling to various places within and outside of Canada, and found it extremely relaxing in tending the flowers and ponds in his immaculate yard.
A funeral service was held on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2019 from the Melville Horizon Credit Union Centre at 10 a.m. with Rev. Fr. Michael Faryna of the Ukrainian Orthodox faith officiating. The cantor, Yvonne Panchuk, with members of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, choir sang the responses. The cross bearer was Cheryl Zulyniak. Honorary bearers were Darryl’s aunts, Grace Egan, Bonnie McLellan and Dianna Pillipow. Casket bearers were Glenn Miller, Don Wenet, Brian Zulyniak, Ronnie Pillipow, Tracy Lambert and Donavon Famulak.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
