Vern Morris of the Bangor district, passed away Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the age of 82 years.
Vern Edward was born in Saltcoats, Sask., on May 14, 1935 to Thomas and Lillian (Eastwell) Morris. He went to Aston School until Grade 8. In 1960, Vern married Marian Jones and they were blessed with three children.
Vern was a farmer all his life, working the field and raising cattle. He was part of the Aston Snow Plow Committee and drove school bus. He also did custom work for neighbours.
Vern loved to play cards with friends and family. Due to failing health, he moved to Morris Lodge in Bangor and then to the Pioneer Health Centre in Ituna, where he remained until his passing.
Vern leaves to mourn his passing: his children, Stan and Shelly and their children, Sarah and Trent (kids, Liam and Arebelle) and Thomas; Jason and Sharon and their children, Melissa and Dan (kids, Brynn and Dylan), Christine and Josh (kids, Elle and Annika), Derek, Shae and Gage and Caelan and
Scott; Wanda and Doug Lang and their kids, Trevor and Robyn; siblings, Elsie and Dave Hunt, Barry Morris, Carol and Murray Jeffries and Velma Racette; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Morris Lodge for Vern’s care and also to the Pioneer Health Centre for the love and support they gave Vern and the family – it truly was home for him.
A prayer service for Vern was held on Sunday, May 13, 2018, and the funeral service was held Monday, May 14, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville with the Rev. Susan Griffith presiding. The organist, Gaylene Matthews, led the hymns, “Faith of Our Fathers” at prayers and “Bringing in the Sheaves,” “How Great Thou Art” and the national anthem of Wales, “The Land of My Fathers,” at the funeral service. The readers were Trevor Lang and Betty Ward, and Melissa Hicke shared family memories.
Interment took place in the Llewelyn Cemetery with Trevor Lang, Thomas Morris and Derek Morris acting as urn bearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
