It is with great love and joy we celebrate the life of a very special man, Leonard Jacob Raunest, who passed away on Thursday, Aug. 24, 2017 at the age of 91 years.
Leonard was born on Nov. 16, 1925, on a farm northeast of Lemberg to Jacob and Hilda (nee Kaduhr) Raunest. He was married to Doris (Acton) Switzer on Oct. 9, 1962, and had a ready-made family of three daughters, Beverley, Lynn and Betty Lou. Their daughter, Bonny, was born two years later.
During his life, Leonard farmed, worked for the PFRA, Page Motors, and drove the fuel truck for the Co-op. He truly loved farming and was happy when his daughter, Bonny and Ken took over his farm. Leonard spent many days ice fishing in the winter with his friends. In his retired years, he had a daily routine which consisted of going for coffee at Kee’s Cafe and then to shoot a couple games of pool at the seniors centre.
Leonard was predeceased by his parents, Jacob Raunest and Hilda (Raunest) Ulmer; step-father, David Ulmer; sister, Ruth Aldous; step-daughter, Beverley Switzer; son-in-law, Kenneth Agnew; and brothers-in-law, Casper Kosloski and Roy Aldous.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Doris; daughter, Bonny (Ken) Cyca of Lemberg; step-daughters, Lynn (John) Roberts and Betty Lou Agnew, both of Saskatoon; grandchildren, Ryan (Christina) Switzer, Alun (Samantha) Roberts, Rhiannon Roberts, Jessica Roberts, Kerry Agnew, Morgan Cyca (Devon Moldenhauer), Russell Agnew (Annika Thiel) and Whitney (Daniel) Maurer; great-grandchildren, Ethan and Eliza Switzer, Lucy and Margaret Roberts, Declan and Owen Roberts and Barrik Maurer; sister, Edna Kosloski; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Duncan (Milly) Acton, Elinor Relf, Richard (Marjory) Acton, Donald (Sylvia)Acton and Clifford (Enid) Acton, along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
