Date of Birth: August 2, 1932

Date of Death: June 15, 2017

Lawrence Alfred Featherstone was born on Aug. 2, 1932, the youngest son of Robert and Evelyn (Slater) Featherstone. He was born on the family homestead in the Lemberg area and resided there until the 1940s when his parents bought land three miles south. It was there that he lived until he retired.
He passed away Thursday, June 15, 2017.
Lawrence helped with the farming and caring for the animals from a young age, and after his mother became ill, he also added cooking to his list of responsibilities. In fact it wasn’t unusual for him to provide delicious pies for functions in town.
Lawrence farmed with his brothers the majority of his life and enjoyed being around family and the friendship of his neighbours and close friends.
When he decided to retire from farming, he moved to Melville for the winter, but returned to his home on the farm for the summer months.
Lawrence was always willing to try new things and had a zest for life. He loved to socialize and never passed up an opportunity to attend any type of social gathering. After Lawrence sold the farm, he enjoyed many new adventures and travels. He was the last of his generation in the family and will be greatly missed.
Lawrence was predeceased by his father and mother; brothers, Robert, Norman, Bernard and Raymond; sisters, Muriel, Grace and Hazel; and nephew, Grant. He is survived by nieces and nephews, and the close friends he called family.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
