Date of Birth: October 14, 1941

Date of Death: June 1, 2017

Elizabeth Carol Bella (Megyesi), beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and aunt, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2017 with family in her presence.
Elizabeth (Betty) Bella was born in Regina, Sask. on Oct. 14, 1941 to her biological mother, Anne Chapiel. Elizabeth and her twin brother, Joseph, were adopted by Gasper and Mary Megyesi.
Betty grew up on a farm in the Endeavor area and attended school there. In 1961 Betty moved to Melville and worked as a housekeeper/helper, this is where she met her husband, Ernest Bella.
Elizabeth and Ernest were married on June 30, 1963 and resided on a farm near Bangor. Mom worked hard on the farm, milking cows, taking care of livestock, hauling wood, picking rocks and planting, weeding, harvesting and processing all the garden.
Betty and Ernie retired from the farm and moved to Melville in 1984. During their time in Melville they continued to work; cutting grass, gardening, baby sitting and cleaning. Mom cared for all five of her grandchildren plus babysat other children as well.
Shortly after Dad’s passing, mom moved to a suite at Heritage House. While Betty lived there she helped out various seniors by getting their mail, taxi vouchers, groceries or cleaning. Betty also cared for two seniors so they could remain in their homes as long as possible. Betty volunteered at the Thrift Shop, Roman Catholic Church and St. Paul Lutheran Home.
Throughout her life, Betty faced many obstacles and struggles but she always remained determined and did her best. Mom was giving, caring, honest and kind. Mom was also a little bit stubborn to say the least. Mom enjoyed caring for her grandchildren, teaching each one to ride a bike and making crepes for them. Mom liked playing cards, watching the news, going to church, baking bread, riding her bike, walking and even running.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her parents, Gasper and Mary Megyesi; her husband of 40 years, Ernest Bella; her twin brother, Joseph; and sister-in-law, Geraldine Megyesi.
Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memory and mourn her passing: her three children, Dennis (Doreen), Diane (Barry), Brenda (Tim); five grandchildren, Amanda (Dustin), Daniel, Alysha, Ashley and Janelle (Nick); three great-grandchildren, Kaige, Shayde, Dayson; as well as nieces, nephews and her friend, Helen.
Betty and her family would like to thank St. Peter’s Hospital and St. Paul Lutheran Home staff, Bailey’s Funeral Home, family and friends. Thank you for your prayers, hugs, kind words, and help.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
