Date of Birth: December 19, 1947

Date of Death: May 26, 2017

Rodney Wozniak was born on Dec. 19, 1947 at St. Peter’s Hospital, Melville, Sask., the third child of Barney and Anne (Muzylowski) Wozniak. He entered his eternal rest at the Pasqua Hospital, Regina, Sask. on Friday, May 26, 2017.
Rodney attended East End and Melville High Schools. Post-secondary, he completed a course in TV repair at STI (Prince Albert, Sask.) and later obtained a certificate in clerical accounting from Reliance College of Business in Regina.
After high school, he worked at Bell’s Dairy in Melville and Swift’s Eviscerating Plant. Relocating to Regina in the mid- 1970s, he worked as night security at the Drake Hotel and the Inntowner Motel. His next employment for many years was as a night auditor at the Hotel Saskatchewan. His last employment for over 15 years, was at the Sears Call Centre until it closed, at which time he retired.
As a young adult, Rodney was diagnosed with Crohn’s disease and ankylosing spondylitis. Struggling with ill health his entire life, he chose to remain a bachelor.
Not having a family of his own, he loved his nieces and nephews and took a keen interest in their activities, attending every sporting event and dance recital that he was able to.
Rodney never learned to cook for himself, so happily accepted an invitation for a home-cooked meal; especially enjoying family gatherings for Christmas, Easter, Thanksgiving, weddings, baptisms, etc.
Though he spent much time alone, he enjoyed a good chat. Whether it be local or world politics, current events or space aliens, given a patient listener, he could expound at length.
A tinkerer, even as a child, there wasn’t a clock or a radio in the house that he hadn’t taken apart (to see how it works). Often though, when he’d reassembled these items, there were parts left over.
Rodney, loved science fiction books, movies, television (his favourite was the Space channel) and thought he might have been a victim of alien abduction. Doesn’t every family need an eccentric uncle? He was loved; he will be missed.
Predeceased by his parents, Barney and Anne; niece, Tricia Wozniak; and brother-in-law, Gerald Aichele.
Rodney is survived by his brothers, Richard (Loretta) Wozniak of Melville and Melvin (Lindy) Wozniak of Edmonton; sisters, Melinda Wozniak of Regina, Laurie (Glen) Tank of Melville and Cathy Lawson (Ray Beatty) of Regina; his nephews, Blair (Jenny) Wozniak, Bradley Wozniak, Brent Wozniak, Shawn (Natasha) Aichele, Dion Aichele, Craig Lawson and Ian Lawson; nieces, Melanie Aichele and Melissa Lawson (Curtis Kwiatkowski); his great-nieces and nephews; and great-grand niece.
A private family graveside service took place at St. Henry’s Parish Cemetery with Rev. Fr. Francis Hengen as the celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Services, Melville.
