Katherine “Katie” (nee Serfas) Litzenberger of Melville, Sask., died suddenly on Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 at the age of 90 years.
Katie was born April 9, 1926 to Henry and Maria Serfas (nee Roland) in Regina. She attended Pheasant Hills School and helped her parents on their farm near Neudorf.
Katie met Philip V. Litzenberger and they were married on Nov. 19, 1944. Together they worked on the family farm southwest of Melville where Philip grew up. The couple resided on the family farm raising six children, until they moved into Melville in 1987.
They enjoyed going to dances, playing cards, bowling and socializing with family and friends until Philip’s passing on Aug. 3, 2007.
Katie continued to work hard doing what she loved best, looking after a large garden/flower bed, shovelling her own walkway and baking right up until her passing.
Katie always looked forward to the arrival of her meal at noon time as she could socialize with
Bryce when he delivered it to her.
Katie will be sadly missed by all who loved her.
Katie is survived by her six children: Winnie (Gerry) Gellner, Florence (John) Ulmer, Joan (Garry) Tank, Janet (Doug) Cantelon, Ron Litzenberger, Elmer (Tammy) Litzenberger and their families.
A private graveside service was held in the Melville City Cemetery with Brian Mee celebrating.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
