Christopher Joel Bierwagen, beloved son of Daryl and Flory Bierwagen, passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016.
He leaves to mourn his passing: his parents; his son, Gavin Bierwagen; his siblings, Tyler (Julie) Bierwagen, Kerry Bierwagen, Brandon Bierwagen; his nephews, Triton, Chase and Ryder Bierwagen; his maternal grandmother, Lillian Jarrett; his paternal grandmother, Katie Bierwagen. Also mourning his passing are his many uncles, aunts and cousins.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandfather, Barry Jarrett; his paternal grandfather, Oscar Bierwagen; his uncles, Randy Neal Bierwagen and Tony Jarrett.
Chris was born Feb. 23, 1987, the second son of Daryl and Flory. He was raised on the family farm north of Fenwood, Sask. He loved playing hockey and played from Atoms to Midgets. Chris was also an avid snowboarder. From a young age, he had an aptitude for electronics and worked in the field for a time.
The thing Chris loved most was spending time with his son, Gavin. A Friday night tradition with his son was fast food and videos.
Chris loved his family and was a loyal friend. Children gravitated to him. He spent many hours entertaining his nephews and his friends’ children. His cousins always looked forward to getting ‘the tour’ when they visited him at the farm.
Chris’s passing will leave a huge void in all our lives. ‘Rest in Peace’ Chris. We love you.
A funeral service was held for Chris on Saturday, Oct. 22, 2016 at Matthews Funeral Home, Melville with Pastor Jon Pettinger presiding. Larry Stefaniuk read the obituary, Wendy Curtis read the scripture and Jana Monar delivered the eulogy. The organist, Gaylene Matthews, and vocalists, Judy Belzner and Greg Herman, led in the singing of the hymns “In the Sweet By and By” and “I, ome to the Garden Alone.” All of Chris’s family and friends were considered honorary pallbearers.
Interment followed in the Fenwood Cemetery with Hugh Robinson, Michael Karpinski, Jenny Mosley, Roy Hitchens, Troy Wlock and Dean Smee acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
