It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Donnie, following complications after heart surgery. Donnie passed away peacefully, with family by his side, on Friday, Sept. 23, 2016.
He was predeceased by his parents, Rose and Russell Stelmacovich; and nephew, Barry Buchan.
Donnie will be lovingly remembered by his daughter, Sarah (Travis) Stelmacovich; siblings, Pat (Rick) Merkel, Michael Stelmacovich and Cheryl (Ross) Buchan; nieces and nephews, Renee (Pete) Miles and their children, Graydon and Brooklyn, Brad Merkel and Jordan Buchan; as well as numerous family and friends.
Donnie was born in Melville, Sask. He will always be remembered for being a loving father, brother, uncle and friend to many. He could often be found at the hockey rink or ball diamonds, and especially enjoyed watching his daughter play softball. He also has a special knack for cooking and could often be found experimenting with a new recipe or two.
He had a special zest for life and was loved by many. He would never hesitate to lend a hand to anyone who needed it.
Donnie cherished the good times, and time spent with family and friends. His infectious laugh and smile will be deeply missed.
The family would like to send a heartfelt thank you to all those who provided care and attention to Donnie and his family during his stay at the Regina General Hospital, the staff of SICU, CCU and CSU as well as Dr. Moustapha, Dr. Baird and Dr. Dehghani.
As per Donnie’s request, a funeral service will not be held, but a Celebration of Donnie’s Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Donnie may be made to Telemiracle, 271C Hanselman Court, Saskatoon, SK S7L 6A8 or a charity of one’s choice.
