ANAKA – On Saturday, July 9, 2016 Violet Rose Anaka passed away in Hudson Bay, Sas. at the age of 70 years.
Violet Rose Anaka (Guderyan) was born on Wednesday, March 13, 1946 to parents, Alex and Mary Guderyan. She received her education in Hudson Bay, Sask.
On Friday, May 7, 1965, Violet was engaged to George Anaka and they were married on Saturday, Oct. 2, 1965. To this union, two children were born.
Violet devoted her early years to raising their family in Hudson Bay, Churchill and Melville. Violet was active within the communities in which they lived. No matter where she lived, she enjoyed gardening, picking berries, baking and always had time for a pot of coffee with friends.
A transition to live at McBride Lake was complete in 2002, where she and George had many wonderful days with their treasured grandchildren. Violet enjoyed watching them develop a life-long appreciation of nature.
Violet was predeceased by her father, Alex (1981); mother, Mary (2000); brothers, Alfred (1945) and Leonard (1945); sister-in-law, Pat Guderyan (2014); and brother-in-law, John Dyck (2012).
Left to cherish Violet’s memory is her husband, George; children, Darren (Donna) Anaka and Lana (Colin) Franklin; grandchildren, Blake Anaka, Logan Anaka, Brett Franklin, and Madison Franklin; sisters, Adline Dyck and Shirley (Don) Foster; brother, Harvey Guderyan; along with nieces, nephews and many close friends, and relatives.
A memorial service was held on Friday, July 15, 2016 at the St. Stephen’s United Church with Rev. Nancy Steinbachs officiating. Interment followed in the Hudson Bay town cemetery. Urn Bearer was Harvey Guderyan. A video presentation was prepared by Blake and Logan Anaka, along with Colin, Brett and Madison Franklin. The Hudson Bay Community Choir and Mary Bober led the congregation in a selection of hymns. Following interment, lunch was severed by the St. Stephen’s UCWin the Church hall.
