Mervin John Exner of Grayson, Sask., beloved husband of Annette Exner, entered his eternal rest on Wednesday, July 6, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville at the age of 59 years.
Mervin was born on April 3, 1957 at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, a son to George and Evelyn (nee Mayer) Exner.
Mervin received his education for one year at the Columbia School, attended Grayson School up to Grade 9, then completed his education at the Melville Comprehensive School. After graduating, Mervin went to work at various jobs around the province. In 1981 Mervin started his employment with the CNR in Edmonton and then transferred to Melville where he worked as an engineer until retiring in 2014.
Mervin played for the Grayson Goldusters broomball team and was a coach for minor ball. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, playing cards, cheering for the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (his favourite football team) and canning “Merv’s Preserves.”
Mervin’s most enjoyment was spending time with his family, especially his new grandson, Kayden.
Predeceased by his parents, George and Evelyn; brother, Jerry; and brother-in-law, Ted Fuchs.
Mervin leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Annette of Grayson; son, Joshua (Keltie) and their son, Kayden of Regina; daughter, Chelsey (Nolan) Johnson of Yorkton; brother, David (Pat) of Broadview; sisters, Irene (Rod) Ottenbreit of Grayson and Sharon Fuchs of Regina; sister-in-law, Denise Exner of Regina; as well as nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
The funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, July 9, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. from St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Grayson with Rev. Father Thomas Mutavanattu as the celebrant.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Service, Melville.
