WIRTH – Martha Wirth of the Yorkton and District Nursing Home, formerly of Neudorf, Sask., widow of the late John Wirth, passed away Friday, Jan. 12, 2016 at the age of 95, just four days short of her 96th birthday.
Martha was predeceased by her husband, John; her son, Edwin; her parents, Ludwig and Margaret (nee Kraushaar); her sisters, Sophie (in infancy), Philipina (in childhood), Christina, Margaret and Katherine; her brothers, Philip, Frank, John, Jake, Fred and Michael.
She leaves to mourn: her sons, Glen (Carol) and Rodney (Delores); her daughter, Donna (Barclay) Westerhaug; her daughter-in-law, Ruth Wirth; her grandchildren, Debbie Weston, Darren (Lori) Wirth; Susan (Terry) Lewchuk, Casey (Triphina) Wirth, Carmen Wirth, Shannon (Lee) Lyons; Jay (Carrie) Wirth, Jordon (Cristal) Wirth,
Tina (Curtis) Krupski, Jared (Calyssa) Wirth; Amanda (Shane) Barr, Michael (Jen) Litzenberger, Mathew (Sabrina) Litzenberger; her 24 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She also leaves her sister-in-law, Lizzie Goebe;l and brothers-in-law, Victor (Mary) Wirth, Arthur Wirth and Clifford (Lenora) Wirth; along with numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and godchildren.
Martha’s funeral service was held Friday, Jan. 15, 2016 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Neudorf, with the Rev. John Nieminen officiating. The organist, Sherry Hoehn, led in the singing of the hymns, “The Lord’s My Shepherd,” “Blest Be the Tie That Binds,” and I Know That My Redeemer Lives.” Jen Litzenberger, Cristal Wirth and Calyssa Cross sang, “Lord Take My Hand and Lead Me” as a tribute. All of Martha’s grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren were considered honorary pallbearers.
Interment took place at the Neudorf Village Cemetery with Jay Wirth, Jared Wirth, Jordon Wirth, Casey Wirth, Darren Wirth, Carmen Wirth, Michael Litzenberger and Mathew Litzenberger acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
