On May 26th, 2015 at approximately 04:30 a.m. Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP responded to a call of a semi that had hit the ditch on Highway # 5 between Wadena and Kylemore, SK.

The driver of the semi had been hauling approximately 6500 chickens from Canora, SK to Saskatoon, SK.

The driver was heading West Bound on Highway # 5 when his tires fell off the North side of the highway. The driver attempted to pull his vehicle back onto the highway and the load he was carrying then shifted causing it to spill out several crates of live chickens into the North ditch.

The 27 year old male driver of the semi was treated initially on scene but then transported to Wadena Hospital by ambulance with what was reported to be non life threatening injuries.

Cleanup crews responded from Saskatoon and the Highway was down to one lane from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the collision and the matter remains under investigation by Wadena/Foam Lake RCMP.
