Date of Birth: August 2, 1952
Date of Death: January 13, 2026
Elaine Mary Herrington (Hegedus), beloved wife of Bob Herrington, entered eternal rest with her family by her side on Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Elaine was born to Yolanda (Trohak) and Geza Hegedus on Aug. 2, 1952, in Esterhazy, SK. She grew up on the Trohak family farm with many aunts, uncles, and cousins. This was a special place for her.
Elaine met Bob in 1971 and soon married him on July 29, 1972. They were blessed with three children, Trevor, Dawn, and lastly, Trent. They made their home in Melville, SK, where she worked at the Saan store and later as an Ophthalmic assistant for Dr. Rogoza in Melville until her retirement in 2022.
Elaine’s family was her pride and joy. She loved to spend time cheering on her grandkids and being their biggest fan at their hockey and ringette games. Elaine also enjoyed many other passions like cooking, baking, gardening, and making the odd perogie or cabbage roll. But most of all, she enjoyed family gatherings at the Herrington family cabin, which consisted of watching her grandkids compete in a round of cornhole, sitting on the deck with a glass of wine, the odd “putt on the quad” around town, or her most favourite, finding a project to put on Bob’s “honey-do” list.
Elaine leaves behind to cherish her memory her husband of 53 years, Bob; her children, Trevor (Morrie), Dawn (Scott), and Trent (Kristen); four grandchildren, Mackenzie (Logan), Madison, Aubree and Jaxyn; her great-grandson, Marek; her brother, Lawrence, and his
children, Shawna (Todd), Brandice (Craig), and Crystal (Clayton); her in-laws, Don and Heather Herrington, Roy and Suzanne Herrington, Janice Robertson, and Shawna and Dwayne Miller; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank Dr. Eswadi and the staff at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre, as well as the nurses of the oncology unit of the Pasqua Hospital for all their care and compassion.
Mass of Christian Burial was held on Monday, Jan. 19, 2026 at St. Henry’s Roman Catholic Church, Melville, with the Rev. Fr. Melchor Samonte celebrating.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home.
