Bruce Henderson of Fort Qu’Appelle, Sask., passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of kindness, courage, and service.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Jim and Jean Henderson, infant sister Linda, his brother, Robert James “Rob” Henderson, father-in-law Bill Wogsberg, brother-in-law Larry Tiegen and sister-in-law Marilyn Wogsberg.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Lavinia; his son, Kyle (Marilynne) Braun; his cherished grandson, Gaige; nephews, Jesse and Ryan Henderson; and great-niece, Antha (Justin) Brown and their son Brodie, mother-in-law La Verla Wogsberg, brother-in-law Bill Wogsberg, sisters-in-law Laura (Randy) Schlaht, Roberta (Mike) Chambers, Denise (Doug) Webber, their children and grandchildren, and Aunts Davona Henderson and Juantia Carr, and many cousins.
Bruce had a remarkable career as an oilfield consultant in western Canada and Montana, where his expertise and dedication earned him the respect of colleagues and clients alike. His work and volunteering often took him to incredible heights – both literally and figuratively – including flying as a volunteer pilot for Hope Air, where he flew children and adults in need of medical care to treatment facilities and doctor appointments.
An active member of Our Savior Lutheran Church in Fort Qu’Appelle, Bruce’s faith was central to his life. He also found great joy in his hobbies, including riding his Harley and flying his plane. Bruce particularly enjoyed spending time with his grandson, Gaige, teaching him how to love the water, ride a dirt bike, run a skid-steer and other equipment – a bond that earned him the affectionate nickname “Grandpa Danger.”
Bruce’s personality shone through in everything he did – his warmth, generosity, and sharp sense of humor are unforgettable. Whether soaring through the skies, riding his motorcycle, or lending a hand to family, friends or in his community, Bruce exemplified what it means to live a life of purpose and compassion.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, June 13, 2025 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, Fort Qu’Appelle, SK. A wake will be held at Camp Lutherland, 214 Pasqua Lake Road, Pasqua Lake, SK at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 14, 2025. Interment is to be held later at Lomond Cemetery, Lomond, Alberta.
Bruce will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, greatest uncle in the world, a man of faith, a hero to many, and a friend to all. His impact will be felt for generations to come.
