Date of Birth: February 18, 1939

Date of Death: January 13, 2025

We honour the memory of Joe, who passed away peacefully on Monday, Jan. 13, 2025, surrounded by his devoted wife, Darlene, and family. Joe was larger than life and made a lasting impact on countless individuals over his lifetime.
Joe was born in Melville, Sask., Feb. 18, 1939. He earned his degree in dentistry from the University of Alberta in 1963, and began practicing in the profession he loved, continuing until his retirement in May 2019. He was a world-renowned speaker in his field of implant dentistry and was invited to lecture and teach other dentists around the world. Joe was a high achiever and expected nothing but the best from himself. He certainly accomplished that in his practice and will leave his legacy in the dental field.
In his early years, alongside his dental career, Joe was also an entertainer in theatre, producing and acting in numerous plays. He also showcased his talents as a singer and stand-up comedian.
Joe enjoyed travelling the world, but his all-time favourite place was spending winters at his condo in Maui, drinking Mai Tai’s on the lanai and watching the beautiful Hawaiian sunsets with his beloved wife, Darlene, as well as family and friends.
Joe loved his cars, golfing, wine, entertaining, his friends and family, but most of all he loved his wife, Darlene, of 60 years of marriage, and never wanted to leave her side. She was his everything and always will be.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene; daughters, Tracy (Randy) and Andree (Glenn); grandchildren, Josh (Abby) and Alicia (Luke), Nathaniel and Nataliya; great-granddaughter, Farrah; his brother, Don (Deb); and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, Gus; mother, Norma Doreen; and three brothers, Hugh, Jack and Gordie.
Joe will be forever loved and remembered by all those who knew him.
There will be a Celebration of Life in Joe’s memory sometime in July 2025. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to The Stollery Children’s Hospital, The Edmonton Humane Society, or a charity of your choice.
