Date of Death: January 14, 2024

Lorence John Roth of Kipling, SK journeyed on to heavenly places on Sunday, Jan. 14, 2024.
Man he was a character! There are so many friends, family and neighbours that can attest to the fact that there was never a dull moment when Lorence was around. You always wanted to keep your eye on that fella cause he always had something up his sleeve!
He was born on the family farm to Gustav and Catherine Roth and was the youngest sibling of the family. Lorence had five adoring big sisters who spoiled him rotten. There is a story that one of these sisters gave up a month’s wages to buy him a train set. He attended Edenland School, but not for long. Grampa said as soon as he was able to harness a horse, his dad said he should work at home, where he remained for almost every day of his life.
Lorence grew strong and handsome and soon snagged a bride from the farm next door. Lovely Irma (Singer) said yes and in May 1953 they became a couple. Irma was the perfect farmer’s wife, working hard alongside her husband.
They had three sons: Daryle born 1954, Eldin born 1955 and Derrick born 1958. Lorence was a happy man caring for the livestock, milking, haymaking and grain farming.
The couple were famous for their homemade sausage and many folks enjoyed the homegrown piggy stuff! It was so much work, but they were never afraid of work! As they grew older the land was rented out and life was a bit easier, except for tending the massive garden. Grampa was the water man, while Gramma did the lion’s share of the garden work, growing, canning, processing and sharing.
In May of 2020, Irma succumbed to cancer and Grampa was devastated. After a few months he moved to Rudyard Manor in Kipling. It wasn’t ideal for him, but his family wanted him safe during winter when the roads could get dicey. As his health deteriorated in May of 2023, Grampa moved to the Kipling Integrated Health Center. He was loved by both staff and residents and enjoyed his time there until his death.
Grampa was predeceased by his parents; all five sisters; his wife Irma and son Eldin.
Left to remember him is his family: Daryle (Lynn), Kipling; daughter-in-law Elaine, Brandon, MB and Rick (Trina), Kipling; the grand and great-grandkids that are REALLLLLY going to miss him: Carrie (Andy, Evan and Eli); Cheyanne (Trevor and Jack); Eris (Owen and Everley); Shalane (Bryce); Brad; Christie (Brendon, Molly and Marcus); Lane (Maddie); Aaron and Carson.
He will also be missed by his church family; a special friend and caregiver Viola and many friends and neighbours far and wide, whom he always enjoyed.
Peace be with you Grampa.
A graveside service will be held in the spring.
