Ditch fire - A grass fire quickly grew out of control and threatened a farm yard east of Whitewood last week but quick action by Whitewood Fire Department helped save the yard and buildings. The fire, which originated in the ditch along Highway 1, is believed to have been started by a discarded cigarette.
