At approximately 2:50 p.m. on June 21, Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP responded to a complaint of a possible drowning at Katepwa Point at Katepwa Lake Provincial Park.  The investigation has determined that a 23-year-old male was swimming in the water with friends when he swam past a bouy where the water drops off and began to struggle.  The friends of the 23-year-old male and a good Samaritan who witnessed the struggle all tried to rescue the male who disappeared beneath the water.  Fort Qu’Appelle RCMP along with Saskatchewan Environment, Fort Qu’Appelle Fire Rescue, private boaters and STARS Air Ambulance patrolled the area, but have not located the victim.

The RCMP Under Water Recovery Team will arrive on scene June 22 to assist as the investigation continues.

RCMP will not be releasing the name of the victim.
