Caroline Elizabeth Appell was born on Jan. 8, 1935 in the Grayson district of Saskatchewan, a daughter to John and Margaret (nee Hickie) Augustine.
Caroline grew up and received her education at the Waldron School for two years, then completed her schooling at the Spruce Dale School. While attending school she helped her parents on the farm. After her schooling she began to help relatives as a farm hand.
On July 28, 1952, Caroline married Joe Appell at St. Michael’s Roman Catholic Church in Bangor. The couple took up farming in the Grayson area. Early in their marriage, Joe became ill, later wheelchair-bound, forcing the couple to move into Grayson in 1957.
As of May 12, 1968, her world was completed when Lorna was born. In 1970 they moved into Melville where Caroline grew a garden and babysat. She enjoyed being a mom, caring for Joe, bird watching, bowling, growing flowers, knitting and the outdoors. Caroline was a past member of the Rosary Sodality.
Caroline entered her eternal rest on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Morris Lodge in Bangor at the age of 80 years.
