Date of Birth: December 5, 1936
Date of Death: October 16, 2026
Neva Jean Miller (Hoffman) of Wolseley, SK at age 89 left our world in Regina on Friday, Oct. 16th, 2026.
Neva was born a farm girl from Kansas and daughter of Lee and Edna Hoffman. She milked cows as a young girl, went on to serve farm communities throughout her life and raised two boys who spent time working fields in Alberta. Neva moved from the United States to Canada in 1969 with her new family, husband Erwin and sons Greg and Brent. Neva made Canada her home for the rest of her life and became a proud Canadian citizen.
Neva Jean was a mother, dedicated wife, writer of stories and poetry, musician, photographer, family historian and every other thing anyone could expect from a beautiful citizen of this earth. She gave her life to the service of her family, constantly without fail, cooking, cleaning, managing accounts and writing countless letters. She gave without reservation to the needs of many communities, always willing to contribute in any way that she could. Neva Jean never faltered in putting the needs of others first.
Described as a stoic, Neva was strong and wise. She had the ultimate wisdom to know when we are able to change our lives and when we cannot. The serenity Prayer by Reinhold Niebuhr displayed on a plaque, sat on a shelf in her childhood home. She must have read it a thousand times! “God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”
An interment in Wolseley Cemetery will be held in summer of 2027.
