Date of Birth: July 30, 1934

Date of Death: March 23, 2026

Our mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and beloved wife of the late Gerald Stratton passed away at the Whitewood Community Health Centre on Monday, March 23, 2026, at the age of 91 years.
On Nov. 1, 1952, Helen married the love of her life, Gerald Stratton, and they began
their life together in the Armentieres district. Helen was a devoted wife who loved the farm life. She enjoyed baking, gardening and always planted enough for everyone to enjoy. One of her favourite pastimes was making fun fur blankets for all her children and grandchildren. Every one of us has a special blanket that we will cherish. Mom and Dad liked to travel and especially enjoyed their trips to BC and to England. They also took up golf later in life and enjoyed that as well.
One of Mom’s greatest joys was spending time with her six grandchildren, doing all sorts of crafts, going on bike rides and playing games for hours.
Helen was predeceased by her husband, Gerald; son Kenny; her parents, Michael and Rose Szucs; her siblings, Rose (Louis) Firkaly, Chris (Steve) Meszaros, Frank (Terry) Szucs, Andy (Brenda) Szucs, George Szucs and Marion (Joe) Yuhasz; her sister-in-law, Maria Szucs; her father- and mother-in-law, Edward and Mabel Stratton; and her brother and sister-in-law, Ron and Margaret Stratton.
Left to mourn Helen’s passing are her son, Allan (Heather) Stratton and their children, Michelle (Stephen) Sulz, Brandi (Murray) Kittelson, Mason, Jersey and JettJames (Kim) Stratton; her daughter, June (Rod) Beckett and their children, Nick (Kelsey) Jaysa and
Janesa; Jackie (Mike) Shulko, Rowyn and Remi and Kelly (Brooklynn), Marlaina and Nora; her brother, Lou (Chris) Szucs and sister-in-law Margaret Szucs; along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
Gram kept her faith in her Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ and now is reunited with her husband, Gerald, and her son, Kenny, whom she thought of every day of her life.
The family would like to thank Jacquie and staff at the Whitewood nursing home for your exceptional care of our mother, whom we all called Gram. When we would visit she would always comment that she was happy she was living there. We are grateful to know that she was so well cared for. Thank you all so very much.
A celebration of life will take place with family at a later date.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Whitewood Community Health Centre.
Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville and Whitewood.
