Date of Birth: March 11, 1938

Date of Death: March 8, 2026

Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Elsie Heuchert, passed away Sunday, March 8, 2026, at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, SK. She was 87 years of age.
Elsie was born at the family farm in Hubbard, SK, on March 11, 1938, to Karl and Adele Hess. Elsie married Siegfried Heuchert on June 8, 1957, and they moved to Manitoba where they had three children. After a short time in Yorkton, they eventually settled on the family farm in Goodeve. In 2000, they retired and moved to Melville.
Elsie enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and socializing with her many friends. She was an active member and volunteer of many clubs and boards. She loved tending to her garden and flowers on both the farm and in her yard in Melville. Elsie’s greatest joy was being a grandma and spoiling her grandkids (especially with their all-time favourites cinnamon buns, perogies and cabbage rolls). In her time in the hospital, her special visitor Mack always put the biggest smile on “GG’s” face.
Elsie was predeceased by her parents; her husband of 50 years, Siegfried; daughter Sheila; great-grandchild Kieran; sisters Trudy (Jim) and Leona; brother Wilfred (Betty) and brother in infancy, Werner; Sieg’s parents, Karl and Maria; siblings John (Eleanor), Walter, Elfrieda (Arnold) and Erwin; nephews Alan and Randy; and niece Wendy.
Elsie leaves to mourn her passing and cherish her memory: son Larry (Jay-Lynn); daughter Joanne (Rick); grandchildren Tyler (Teresa) and Michelle (Alex), Kelsey (Lawren), Katie (Braden), Riley (Teagan) and Michael; great-grandchildren Mack, Daylin, Lilah; brother Erwin (Linda); brother-in-law Barrie; sister-in-law Bernie; brother-in-law Eric (Janey); sister-in-law Sharon; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. She will be greatly missed and forever loved.
As per Elsie’s wishes, a private service was held. The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the hospital, nursing home and home care staffs for all the care provided to their mom.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
