Date of Birth: July 7, 1965
Date of Death: March 5, 2026
Trenton Matthew Briggs of Whitewood, SK, passed away at the Southeast Integrated Care Centre, Moosomin, SK, on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at the age of 60 years, after a long battle with diabetes.
Trent was born in Whitewood, SK, to Ernest and Victoria Briggs on July 7, 1965. He was the third born of four children; life was busy on the family farm. Trent graduated from Whitewood High School. He filled his days with fastball, hockey, hunting and friends. He completed the Automotive Technician course through SIAST.
Trent married Shellie Potter, and they settled down in Rocanville, where he worked at Pool Motors. Their beautiful daughter, Danielle, was born in 1991. The years brought many personal changes. He met Cindy Caplette, who had two wonderful children, Megan and Dustin; he proudly raised them as his own. They were so blessed to welcome two more children, Matthew and Bobbie-Jo, marrying in 1998 completing their beautiful blended family.
Trent and Cindy started Briggs Enterprises in Rocanville while farming, volunteering and coaching for the Tigers. His family was his pride and joy; he made time for his children, from safaris with Lou, trips down the ‘never-ending road’, tobogganing behind the old jeep, skating on the pond,
Yorkton trips for bowling and movies, to simply playing catch in the backyard.
Trent was a selfless person. He understood the financial stress it would cause when a customer would come in with car problems. He would give the shirt off his back, while sometimes not expecting a dime back. He was just that kind of man.
Trent’s coaching career was his biggest passion. He loved every child; no matter the skill level, he always made sure that they had a valuable place on the team.
Even with the loss of his own son in 2012, Trent put his grief on hold to make sure his family and Matt’s friends were comforted, offering his hugs and words of wisdom. He was a family man through and through. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. It didn’t matter if he was feeling unwell, there was always time for a play with Papa. Trent never forgot to mention to anyone how proud he was of his own children, whom he loved so dearly.
Trent was loved by many; he will be remembered by every single life he’s touched. Join your angels, dad; you’re finally free from pain.
Trent was predeceased by his son, Matthew Johnathon Briggs; father Ernest Matthew Briggs; and grandparents on both sides.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children, Megan (Kyle) Caplette, Dustin Caplette, Danielle (Nathan) Laxdal and Bobbie-Jo (Hudson) Briggs; Papa to grandchildren Brooke, Ashton, Blake, Oliver and Weston; dear friend Tracy Unsworth; mothers to his children, Shellie Potter and Cindy Briggs; mother Vickie Briggs; sisters Shirley (Lawrence) Berthelet and Rebecca (Kim) Ashton; brother Mark (Stephanie) Briggs; as well as many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville and Whitewood, SK.
