It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Catherine Anne Haverstock at the age of 70. She passed on Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Whitewood Community Health Centre, long-term care, where many people became a part of her family and she became part of theirs.
Catherine was born Sept. 19, 1954, to the late Laura (Boudreau) and Norman Newell of Little River Harbour, Yarmouth County, NS.
Upon getting married April 19, 1974, to Leslie Kendall Haverstock, she soon became a Canadian military wife. After having two children, Matthew 1976 and Sarah 1978, and living in many different locations across Canada,
Catherine and Les made Whitewood, SK, their last stop.
Catherine loved to travel, whether it was camping, summer vacations or seeing the world. When not travelling, she enjoyed doing many crafty projects like crocheting, cross stitch, painting and don’t forget about diamond dot pictures. Everyone will miss seeing her wonderful finished projects.
Catherine Anne was predeceased by her beloved husband, Les; mother Laura and father Norman; siblings Joe (Mary) Newell, Anita (Darrel) Wentzell, Deanna (Henry) Nowlan and Al (Carol Ann) Newell.
She will greatly be missed by her son, Matthew (Darla) Haverstock; daughter Sarah (Wayne) Payot; grandchildren Michael and Samantha “Gabe” Haverstock, Jade and Chase Payot; siblings Danny (Deloris) Newell, Wayne (Judy) Newell, Gaila Magee, Paulette Newell, Larry Newell and Norman (Catherine) Newell; plus many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others who have had the joy to have fun and a good laugh with her.
Catherine will be cremated and buried with her loving husband and a couple of special puppy companions in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Hammonds Plains, NS. Graveside memorial and gathering will be determined at a later date.
Arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Whitewood and Melville.
