It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mabel Kish, a beloved wife, mother, stepmother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, who left us on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2025.
She was born in 1947 in a humble farmhouse in Saskatchewan to Cornelius and Edna Martens, the proud parents of a large and loving family.

On July 19, 1996, Mabel married Gordon Kish.
Together, they shared a partnership filled with love laughter and adventure.

Her life was one of service and dedication, both professionally and through volunteerism. Mabel had a fulfilling career as a bookkeeper, including her role as the office manager at the Fort Macleod Auction Market from 1974 to 1990. In her younger years, Mabel was a dedicated volunteer and hostess for the 1974 Canada Games in Lethbridge, AB. Once in Kipling, Mabel generously gave her time to various organizations, including the Kipling Arts Council, the Food Bank, the Bekevar Ladies Aid Society and the Heritage Foundation.
A true explorer at heart, Mabel was a world traveler. She marvelled at the beauty of Japan, Mexico, Italy, and journeyed throughout the USA and Canada, treasuring each adventure and the stories they brought. In her spare time, Mabel was a voracious reader and enjoyed a good game of cards with family or friends.
In addition to her accomplishments and travels, Mabel found great joy in fostering meaningful relationships and is leaving behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and love. Her family and friends will remember her warm smile, her strength of character and her unyielding love for those she cared for. As we bid farewell to Mabel, we celebrate a life well-lived. She will be deeply missed by family and the many friends whose lives she enriched.
