Date of Birth: April 4, 1921

Date of Death: February 4, 2025

After a long and fulfilling life, Doris Eileen Anderson, formally of Grenfell, SK, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Feb. 4, 2025, just short of her 104th birthday.
Doris was born on April 4, 1921 to John and Eva Russell in Strasbourg.
After her elementary and high school education, Doris went on to “normal school” to
obtain her teaching certificate. Doris’s teaching career was soon interrupted when she met Corbet Anderson of Grenfell. They were married on June 5, 1945, at which time she became a homemaker on the farm in the McPherson District north of Grenfell.
Doris and Corbet resided on the farm until 1973 at which time they sold the farm and retired to a new home in the Town of Grenfell. Retirement in Grenfell brought some
valued leisure time. Mom was very active in the United Church UCW group as well as volunteering at the local craft shop, tourist booth, Grenfell museum and a variety of
other ad hoc community organizations. She loved tending to her garden. Travel to various locations throughout Western Canada was also a highlight of her life as she and Corbet would ensure they visited their adult children and families at their various locations throughout Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta and British Columbia. Doris had an insatiable appetite to learn new things and to keep abreast of the rapidly changing world. She was self-taught on the use of a personal computer and tablet. Facetime and email kept her connected with her family and friends. Mom had the opportunity to take several ocean cruises and bus tours with her long time lady friends and recorded her experiences in written story/poem form. Doris had many hobbies including scrapbooking, cross stitching, knitting, crocheting, tatting, hardanger, quilting, quilling and recording her life experiences in written story form which were produced in a 400 page book by her family.
Doris remained living independently in her home in Grenfell until the fall of 2019 at which time she moved to Regina to the Westminster Personal Care Home.
Doris was predeceased by her husband Corbet (1988), daughter Lana (1963), son Lawrence (June 2024), brother Jack Russell and sister Elzina Hamilton. She is survived by her daughter Caron Partington of Regina, SK, and son Mervin (Teresa) Anderson of Cranbrook, B.C. Also surviving are her six grandchildren: Shilyn Seeley, Morgan (Darcy) Whiteside, Meghan (Sean) McEachern, Michael (Samantha) Partington, Erin (John) Thom and Jared Anderson. She will be greatly missed by her great-grandchildren: Grace (Kat), Ronan, Eliana, Ryan and Katie Seeley; Chet and Saige Whiteside; Artem and Karina McEachern; Abby and Anderson Partington; Ayden Anderson; Breeana (Ryan), Brayden, Parker and Kingsten Thom and several nieces and nephews.
Respecting Doris’s wishes, no formal funeral service will be held. Internment of the cremation urn will take place this summer at the Grenfell Cemetery followed by an informal gathering of family and friends at the Grenfell United Church.
