Eleanor Hood was born to John and Helen Ostlund in Whitewood, SK. Her father worked as a CPR line foreman so Eleanor grew up in many towns along the railway including Antler, Percival, Broadview and finally Wolseley. While attending Wolseley High School she met her future husband Jim Hood. They would marry in 1958 and reside in Regina, SK until the mid-90s.
Music was always important to Eleanor and she earned her Western Board grade 10. Later she taught piano to many students for many years. After Jim’s retirement, Eleanor and her husband followed their children to Ontario where they resided in Kingston, ON and participated extensively in the Kingston Newcomers Association. Their last years were marred by poor health and dementia although Eleanor was walking and playing the piano right to the end.
Eleanor is survived by her husband, Reginald James Hood; her three children, Greg Hood, Sheldon Hood and Wendy Hood-Lusk; her sister and brother-in-law, Yvonne and Mo Jenner; and five grandchildren.
