Date of Death: April 12, 2022

John Delmore Lavers passed away on Tuesday, April 12, 2022, at the age of 85 years.
John was born on Tuesday, Sept. 8, 1936, and grew up in Halifax, Nova Scotia, where he found his love for fishing and a fondness for being near the ocean and the enjoyment of the outdoors. He was a person who always enjoyed the excitement and thrill that life brought and as such enlisted in the military in his late teens, where he was a paratrooper; he took this position in the army with extreme respect and loyalty. It was also during this time John decided to take up boxing, where he won several awards of which he was extremely proud. After the military, John then moved to Yorkton and became a firefighter and had three biological children, John Jr., Joel and Greer Lavers. John was married to Helen Lavers and had two stepdaughters, Rhonda and Deborah, and grandchildren Jordan Kosedy, Logan Kosedy, Ariel Leason and Brett Leason. He always was and continued to be a good husband and a remarkable stepfather.
John was an extremely caring and selfless person who always put others in front of himself. He was a wonderful grandfather to his grandkids, and his happiest moments were spent whenever his stepdaughters and grandchildren came to visit. John was very proud of his grandkids and was able to provide many bragging moments of them. He loved his family dearly and had the largest and strongest of hearts. John’s love of life was always fishing, camping, and knowing his grandchildren would be coming to visit him every year, where he enjoyed time with his grandkids playing poker, cards, visiting, ordering chores and enjoying every moment. If you were lucky enough to have John in your life, you would be given trust, selflessness, kindness and lots of love.
John was a popular patient at the nursing home and made many friends who cared for him deeply, and we are thankful for all their support to John during his last years, making sure he was always comfortable at the home.
John leaves his love to his wife, Helen Lavers, and his stepdaughters, Rhonda (Darryl) Leason and Deborah (Lance) Kosedy, as well as his grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Kosedy, Ariel and Brett Leason, and his great-grandchildren, Alexis and Harlow; his sisters, Bard (Roy) O’Brien and Mary White, and many nieces and nephews from “down home”. He was predeceased by his parents, Delmore and Kathleen Lavers, his brother, Eric Lavers, and many aunts and uncles whom we know he loved dearly.
John was deeply loved and is deeply missed.
