NAGY – Violet Nagy, age 86, of Melville, Sask., wife of the late Louis Nagy, passed away peacefully with family by her side on Tuesday, June 26, 2018 at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville.
Violet Jean Nagy was born on Dec. 4, 1931 in the Happy Centre District to Charles and Martha Geisler (Pearson). Violet was the eldest of three children. When she was 10 years of age, her father passed away, leaving them alone on the farm where they continued to reside. Violet attended Happy Centre School and achieved her Grade 10. She later went to work for area families and at Swift’s Creamery in Melville.
On June 29, 1953, Violet married Louis Nagy Jr. and lived on the farm known as the Horvath farm in the Happy Centre District. They were blessed with four children: Marilyn, Wayne, Correen and Blair.
Violet and Louis enjoyed family gatherings, socializing with friends and neighbours, as well as car trips to British Columbia. Louis passed away in 1983 and Violet continued to farm with the boys until October 1994 when she moved to a home in Melville on Montreal Street. She was happy to have Blair, Leanne and Jordan reside on the home place.
She enjoyed the trips she took with her friends to Hawaii and other places. Being adventurous as she was, she moved to Parksville, B.C. in 2004 returning to Melville in 2006 to her home on Main Street where she resided until moving to the nursing home in October 2017.
While in Melville, Violet enjoyed an active, independent life taking care of her yard, gardening and cooking up a storm for whoever showed up. She truly enjoyed all her friendships she made in the community and at church. Her favourite pastimes were gardening, watching curling, crocheting, knitting, reading and being a chauffeur to those who needed one.
Violet was predeceased by her husband, Louis, in 1983; her brother, Harvey, in 2007; and son-in-law, Ray Malinoski, in 2011.
Violet will be deeply and forever missed by her children and family: daughter, Marilyn (Meryle), children, Trent and Colleen Beres and their children, Trinitie and Cassidy; Garett and Breanne Beres, children, Grady and Baylee; Jenelle and Jeremy Ottenbreit, their children, Torren, Preston and Daxon; son, Wayne (Lorna), children, David Lockhart (Breanna lssel); Stephanie Lockhart (Darryl Dickey), their children, Brigette and Logan; daughter, Correen (Ralph), children, Brooke Malinoski and Carmen Malinoski; son, Blair (Leanne), their son, Jordan Nagy (Payton Molnar); sister, Eleanor Krasowski (Borden); sisters-in-law, Francis Geisler, Eunice Nagy, Ethel Jones and Ida Daggett; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
