The funeral service for Elizabeth Kaczmar, who died on Tuesday, Jan. 23, 2018, at the age of 95 years, was held in the chapel of Tubman Funeral Home on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 with Brian Jakubowski officiating. Internment of cremated remains followed in the Grenfell Cemetery.
Elizabeth Kaczmar, was born on February 15, 1922 in Makowisko, Jaroslaw, Poland, to Jacob & Maria Onysko.
She married Alex Kaczmar on Nov. 30, 1946. They were blessed with three children, John, Henry and Ann.
In 1959 they all immigrated to Canada and lived on a farm west of Broadview, SK. Mom was kept busy with raising her three children, growing a huge garden and helping with the farm. In 1974 mom and dad retired and moved to their house in Broadview, where they lived for 15 years together and 23 years by herself, after dad’s passing. She was a widow for 29 years altogether.
On July 16, 2012, with great sadness, mom had to leave her home and went to live at the Broadview House, an assisted living facility. Two years later, on March 31, 2014, she went to live in the Broadview Centennial Lodge, a nursing care home, where she lived for just over 4½ yrs, until her passing.
Elizabeth was predeceased by her husband, Alex Kaczmar in 1989; her grandson, Braden Dimler in 2006; daughter-in-law Hazel Kaczmar in 2012; and her son, John Kaczmar in 2017.
She is survived by John’s two daughters, Val Kaczmar and her son, Cody Gorniak; and Shar Kaczmar and her children Dusty (Madison) and Rayel Kaczmar; her son, Henry (Karen) Kaczmar and their children, Tammy (Sheldon) Exner, Rowan and Landin; April (Darren) Ottenbreit, Kiara and Caden; Marcy (Ryan) Heikkila, Ali, Beau, Sofi; her daughter, Ann (Larry) Dimler and their children, Shantelle (Mark) Klein, Jaden and Kaylee; Tara (Bret) Loosbrock, Dane and Seth; Christy (Lucas) Dimler and daughter-in-law Martha Kaczmar. Altogether she had three children, nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who were all her pride and joy.
Elizabeth was a very remarkable, generous, sweet little lady with the biggest, kindest heart that was full of love and compassion for all her family, friends and neighbors. She spent lots of her time outdoors tending to her beautiful flowers and garden. She was a hard worker, great cook and was always so appreciative and hospitable to everyone who stopped in.
She loved and remained faithful to her Lord unto the end and she’ll be one deserving of the words “well done good and faithful servant.” She was three weeks short of her 96th birthday so she lived a very long and fruitful life and is now with her Lord and Saviour.
