HEUCHERT – Louise, of Flin Flon, MB, and formerly of Lemberg, SK, passed away Sunday, Sept. 10, 2017, at the age of 99 years.
Louise was born on July 25, 1918, to Phillipina (nee Armbruster) and Martin Heil in Lemberg. She was the eighth of 10 surviving children. Louise attended Normal School and taught in country schools until she married Paul Heuchert in 1943. They lived on the farm north of town until 1951 when they moved to town for schooling for Gail and Lenore. Following this, Lorna and George were
born. When George went to school, Louise returned to teaching, first in the high school and later in the public school.
After retirement, Louise and Paul spent many winters in Mesa, AZ., with family and friends. While at home, they enjoyed being involved with their grandchildren, Paul, Leigh and Kyle.
Louise was predeceased by her siblings, Katy and Karl Huget, Theresa and Goldie McCallum, Ida and John Huget, Eva and Roy McKinnon, Ed Heil, George and Mary Heil, Helen and George Waldbauer and Ann and Otto Herndier; husband, Paul; daughters, Gail Heuchert and Lenore Roffey; son-in-law, Bob McNeil; grandsons, Phil Roffey and Marvin Roffey.
She leaves to mourn her passing: brother, Bill (Kay) Heil; sister-in-law, Margaret Heil; daughter, Lorna; son, George (Lois) Heuchert; son-in-law, Ron Roffey; grandchildren Paul and Brandie Heuchert, Leigh and Dan Maxwell, Kyle (Shelby) Heuchert, Dean and Lucille Roffey and Keith Roffey; great-grandchildren, Nelson and Charlotte Heuchert, Addison Maxwell and Brandon and Dylan Roffey; as well as numerous nieces and nephews and friends in Lemberg.
A funeral service was held for Louise on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lemberg, with the Rev. Victoria Mwamasika officiating. The organist, Maureen Pfeifer, led in the hymns “How Great Thou Art,” “Abide with Me” and “Rock of Ages.” The eulogy was presented by Leigh (Heuchert) Maxwell, and scriptures were read by Diane Rudolph, Jody Paproski and Dolores Baber.
All of Louise’s former students were considered honorary pallbearers.
Interment took place in the Lemberg Cemetery with Ray Heil, George Noble, Ron Pfeifer, Don Herndier, Greg Barkman, Glen Herndier, Ron McKinnon and Gary McKinnon acting as pallbearers.
Arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
