Date of Birth: March 15, 1960
Date of Death: January 18, 2015
Heaven became brighter with the recent passing of a very generous, big hearted and loving soul. Colette Bertha Poncelet left this world peacefully on January 18th, 2015, with loved ones by her side at the Rockyview General Hospital in Calgary.
Colette was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She possessed the gift of generosity and those who knew her, knew that she would do anything to help someone in need. Colette was happiest when she was caring for another person and as a result she was affectionately known as “mom” to many. Colette was also an animal lover. Like people, she was always willing to help a furry friend in need and always had a pet in her life.
The youngest of five, Colette was born on March 15th, 1960 in Whitewood, Saskatchewan to a very fun loving and rambunctious family where there was never a dull moment. She grew up on the family farm in the “18 mile hub” of the prairies and was bussed into Kipling where she attended grade school and high school. She left the farm at eighteen for Regina and later moved to Calgary where she lived and worked for over thirty years.
Colette was a dedicated, knowledgeable and valued employee of Moss Fabrication Ltd. for 22 years and has been described by her long time colleagues as a generous and big hearted person who would do anything for a friend or stranger alike. Colette had a great sense of humor and loved to have a good time. Over the years she enjoyed spending time with her immediate and extended family, playing cards, dice and other games, going for wings, camping, fishing, gardening and playing/managing rec. baseball.
Colette’s fiery and caring spirit will live on through her son, Jarrett Poncelet and grandchildren Kora-lynn (4) and Jayvin Poncelet (3). She will also be remembered and greatly missed by her four siblings, brother Marc Poncelet (Myrina), sister Judy Davies (Fred), sister Bev. Poncelet-Christink, brother Blair Poncelet (Luanna), best friend Donna Johnson, long time partner John Fenton and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Colette will be reunited with her loving parents, Violette and Louie Poncelet and eldest son Jason Poncelet, among other loved ones who have gone before. Colette would often say and believed that, “when it’s your time, it’s your time”.
The family wishes to thank all of the staff in the intensive care unit at the Rockyview General Hospital, who’s respect, kindness, patience and understanding helped to provide peace and comfort.
