Cheryl Anne Wilmot, of Carnduff, was born in Grenfell, Sask. on March 19, 1957 to Yvon and Eileen Gatin. She grew up in Whitewood, Sask. with strong links to the St. Hubert community. Cheryl moved to Saskatoon to attend university, graduating from the College of Education in 1979. She taught at Evan Hardy Collegiate, Riverview and Mount Royal Collegiate.  After several years, Cheryl returned to the University of Saskatchewan to complete a Commerce Degree in 1983. Cheryl married Eric Wilmot on July 7th, 1984.  She taught in Estevan for 2 years before the arrival of their daughter, Bailey on April 18, 1986. Cheryl became involved in the financial and administrative support of Eric’s law practice and farm business.  Jordan was born on January 28, 1988 and Michael on Dec. 27, 1990.  She spent her life raising her children, working with Eric on their farm and supporting her community in many ways.
Cheryl wholeheartedly encouraged her children to value education and participation in community life. She spent many hours driving to hockey games, gymnastics, music lessons, drama practices and ball games. Her home was warm and welcoming to all who entered.  She was the center and core of her family’s life. Cheryl loved camping and fishing with family and friends. She also loved books, music, flower gardening, decorating and sewing. All special occasions were treasured times with her home overflowing with food, laughter and music. Cheryl knew how to make people feel special. Her wisdom, patience and humour were always appreciated by her family and friends. Cheryl bore the pain and personal indignities of her three year struggle with ovarian cancer with courage and hope. She passed away on Sunday, November 11, 2012 surrounded by her family.
She is survived by her husband Eric; daughter Bailey (Jeremy Zakresky) of Saskatoon; sons Jordan of Carnduff and Michael of Saskatoon; mother Eileen Gatin of Regina; three sisters, Laureen Gatin (Phillip Hansen) of Regina; Judy Gatin of Saskatoon; Marilyn Gatin of Indianapolis, IN.; brother Glen (Susan) Gatin of Brandon; father-in-law Doug Wilmot of Carnduff; brother-in-law Duff Wilmot of Carnduff; two sister-in-law, Marlaine (Don) Holmes of Creston, B.C., and Nancy (David) McIntyre of Saskatoon; also numerous nieces and nephews. Cheryl was predeceased by her father Yvon Gatin in 2003 and her mother-in-law Doreen Wilmot in 2010.  The funeral service will be held at the St. Andrews United Church, Carnduff, SK. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at 1:00 p.m. Reverend Susan Reed will officiate.
