Frances Ruth Iluk of Melville, at the age of 81, passed away peacefully at St. Paul Lutheran Home in Melville on Sunday, May 17, 2026.
Ruth was born on July 5, 1944, on the family farm at Baring, SK, to Evelyn (Cole) and Richard Swainson. She married her best friend, Eugene Iluk, on Oct. 9, 1965, at the Anglican church in Grenfell, SK, and had over 60 years of love, caring and support. They were blessed with two children, Carla and Jade, granddaughter Marguerite and great-granddaughter Leonie.
Ruth loved many things – going to the cabin at Crooked Lake, camping, gardening, going to the Melville Millionaire hockey games, and she especially loved talking with friends and family, and all passersby! She always had a smile and greeting for everyone!
Ruth was predeceased by her parents, Richard and Evelyn Swainson; her in-laws, William and Anne Iluk; her sister, Audrey Joan Iluk; and many sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law. She leaves to mourn: her husband, Eugene Iluk; children Carla Iluk and Jade Iluk; granddaughter Marguerite Rousseau (Max) and great-granddaughter Leonie; brother-in-law Ernie Iluk; niece Dawn (Dave) Melnychuk, and Tyson Melnychuk and Jai-lyn (Ryan) Frederickson; also many other cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
We will cherish all the laughs and memories forever!
A memorial service will be held on Monday, June 22, at 2:00 p.m., at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ron Shumba officiating. Interment will take place in the Grenfell Cemetery at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to the St. Paul Lutheran Home Foundation, Melville.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
