Yorkton RCMP charge two males with kidnapping with a firearm

Yorkton RCMP charged two males with kidnapping with a firearm after a victim was forcefully taken from a residential property in Yorkton, SK.

On January 20, 2026, Yorkton RCMP received a report of suspicious activity on 4^th Avenue North in Yorkton, SK. Police were told that an individual may have been kidnapped.

Yorkton RCMP immediately responded. Investigation determined a male victim was in a parked vehicle outside a residence on 4^th Avenue North in Yorkton. Two males wearing face coverings approached the victim, forced him out of the vehicle, placed him in a separate SUV, and drove away. The males threatened the victim and pointed a firearm at him. The firearm was not discharged.

Shortly after receiving the initial report, Yorkton RCMP located a vehicle matching the SUV’s description on Highway #10, heading towards Melville. Officers activated their vehicle’s emergency equipment and initiated a traffic stop. The SUV did not stop; it fled from police. Shortly after, the SUV entered the ditch. The vehicle occupants were arrested at the scene. The victim, who was one of the vehicle occupants, reported non-life-threatening injuries to police. Investigation determined the suspects and victim were known to one another.

During a subsequent search of the vehicle, officers located and seized a loaded firearm, a firearm magazine, ammunition, approximately 88 grams of cocaine, approximately 88 grams of methamphetamine, and approximately 16 grams of fentanyl.

As a result of continued investigation, 24-year-old Preston Carroll and 20-year-old Dante Douglas, both from Fort McMurray, AB, are each charged with:

• one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• one count, possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl, Section 5(2), Controlled Drugs and Substances Act;
• one count, kidnapping with a firearm, Section 278(1.1)(a.1), Criminal Code;
• one count, unauthorized possession of a firearm, Section 91(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a firearm/weapon/device/ammunition in motor vehicle, Section 94(1)(a), Criminal Code;
• one count, careless use of a firearm, Section 86(1), Criminal Code;
• one count, possession of a firearm when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(1), Criminal Code; and
• one count, possession of a prohibited weapon when knowing possession unauthorized, Section 92(2), Criminal Code.

Preston Carroll is additionally charged with:

• one count, disguised with intent to commit offence, Section 351(2), Criminal Code;
• one count, assault, Section 266, Criminal Code;
• two counts, uttering threats against a person, Section 264.1(1)(a), Criminal Code;
• one count, pointing a firearm, Section 87, Criminal Code.

Dante Douglas is additionally charged with:

• one count, flight from peace officer, Section 320.17, Criminal Code; and
• one count, dangerous operation of motor vehicle, Section 320.13(1), Criminal Code.

Preston Carroll and Dante Douglas appeared in Yorkton Provincial Court on January 22, 2026.
