It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of Kathy Blanchard on Saturday, March 8, 2025. She resided in Neudorf for most of her life and passed away at the age of 76.
Kathleen Elsie Weger was born in Wolseley, SK, to Sophia (Bender) and Gottlieb Weger on Sept. 18, 1948. She was baptized on Oct. 5, 1948, by Rev. W. Rickert. Her confirmation date was July 7, 1963, at Christ Lutheran Church, Neudorf; her memory verse was Luke 11:28: Blessed are they that hear the word of God and keep it.
Kathy was united in marriage to Raymond Lloyd Blanchard on Oct. 18, 1968, by Rev. Reinhold Propp. This marriage was blessed with sons Troy (Kathy) and Travis. She cherished and loved time spent with her sons vacationing and working and sharing time with them. She loved and was very proud of her sons and her daughter-in-law.
Kathy will be remembered for her friendliness and her willingness to help all. She had great love for friends and family. Her hairstylist occupation gave her much happiness; she cherished every client.
Throughout her life, Kathy was involved with drama, the community hall board, library board, curling club, Roadside Manor board, Red Cross, Community College and choirs. Volunteer work was important to her; she rarely said no. Kathy was active at Trinity Lutheran Church as a Sunday school teacher and superintendent, directing the senior choir and also on the church board.
Kathy enjoyed friends, reading, any type of music (especially country gospel), curling, community involvement and people. Her faith in God was very strong, and so was her love for her family and dear friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her parents; brothers Elvin and Ralph; sisters-in-law Marg Weger, Bev Weger and Francis Schweitzer; brothers-in-law Herb Blanchard, Leonard Blanchard, Gerald Blanchard and Martin Kardash; her husband, Raymond; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends. Her love lives on in her two sons, Troy (Kathy) of Regina, and Travis of Neudorf; brother Paul (Carol) Weger of Brandon; sister Margaret Kardash of Regina; sister-in-law Gloria Blanchard of Elbow; along with numerous special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
No longer in our life to share.
But in our hearts always there.
The family would like to thank the wonderful people of Neudorf for creating cherished memories with our mom and also for their ongoing love and support. The family would also like to thank the staff at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville for their wonderful care and compassion.
Funeral arrangements were entrusted to Matthews Funeral Home, Melville.
