Date of Birth: October 4, 1930
Date of Death: December 12, 2019
Bow Shui Mak (Wong) was born on Oct. 4, 1930 in Guangdong, China. At 89, she passed away in the comfort of her own home with her loving family on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019.
Bow had immigrated to Canada in 1965 with her two oldest children, Kay and Donnie. Meanwhile, Sam had been in Canada for seven years prior trying to make a better life for his family. They had two more children, Sherry and Larry to complete their family. Bow worked alongside her husband at the restaurants he owned which were the Cameo (Melville), Mak’s Café (Neudorf) and the Gateway (Melville) later named Mak’s Restaurant. In 1990, they both retired from the business and moved to Regina to be closer to Donnie and his family.
Bow was a quiet and private lady who always saw the good in everyone and applauded everyone’s success. She taught her children and grandchildren the value of hard work led to success and prosperity. She took great joy in seeing and visiting with her grandchildren. While Bow’s life was simple, she always felt blessed and content. She always said even if you do things wrong but your intentions are good, then you’ve done your best. Her favourite past time was cooking, gardening, playing mah-jong and spending time while eating out with numerous family and friends.
Bow will be lovingly remembered by her daughter, Sherry (Daryl) Bell and their daughters, Madisyn and Jordyn; son, Larry Mak (Lori Machiskinic) and his daughter, Kayla; daughter-in-law, Alice Mak and her children, Michael (Heena) Mak and their son Greysen and Cindy Mak; her grandchildren, May Chan, Myra Chan (Tim Drobot); Anna (David) Moore; Deanna Chan (Marc Smith); Tim Chan; Gina (Terry) Dulmage and their children, Kameron and Ava; and David Chan.
Bow is predeceased by Sam (husband), Kay (daughter), Donnie (son), Taylor (granddaughter) and Kam Chan (son-in-law).
A family graveside service was held on Saturday, Dec. 21, 2019 in the Melville Municipal Cemetery.
