SWITZER – Edward William Switzer, May 13, 1929 – Oct. 30, 2017.
Ed passed away peacefully at St. Peter’s Hospital in Melville, Sask. at the age of 88.
He is predeceased by his wife, Minnie (1930-2000); his brother, Joseph; his sister, Violet; and his granddaughter, Jennifer.
He is survived by his brother, Robert of Saskatoon; and all eight of his children, Rod (Imelda) of Saskatoon, Terry (Colleen) of Calgary; Cheri (Kavin) of Jasper, Lori (Bob) of Spruce Grove, Jeff (Stephen) of Toronto; Scott (LeeAnn) of
Lethbridge, Tricia (Jeannette) of Melville and Tammie (Grant) of Melville.
Ed became a member of the Byblow family when he married Minnie in 1953 and Kurt Webster of Ajax, Ont. has been an honourary Switzer since 1971. Lance Demeria and Tara Czaja became special friends and support for Ed’s last six years.
Dr. Johann van Zyl, the caregivers of St. Peter’s Hospital and Ituna Pioneer Lodge made Ed’s last days comfortable.
His 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, his children and many friends will cherish the memory of a quiet man, kind, with a sly sense of humour and steadfast practical honour that endeared him to those who knew him well.
A memorial service was held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2017 from the Chapel of Bailey’s Funeral Home in Melville with Rev. Brian Mee officiating.
Arrangements were by Bailey’s Funeral and Cremation Care, Melville.
