Standoff closes highway near Whitewood

Shortly after 5 pm the RCMP conducted a traffic stop on Highway 1 approximately three kms west of Whitewood. The occupant of the vehicle was not cooperative with police and for public safety reasons the highway was closed in both directions. Shortly after 6 pm one male occupant was taken into custody without incident and the highway re-opened for regular use.
