Leta Marcia Johnson (Hanson) passed away peacefully on Jan 13, 2013 at the age of 87. Leta was born on a farm near Kipling and grew up in that area. She went to Normal School and taught first in Katepwa. In 1946 she married Arthur Johnson and continued to teach at Neelby School which was at the end of their farm’s driveway. She also kept busy helping Arthur with their farm and raising their 2 sons. After selling the farm, they moved to Regina for a year and then to Whitewood for 4 years before finally settling back in Regina in 1967. In Regina she taught at Success Business College until it closed and then continued her employment as an accountant with the provincial government. Following her retirement in 1990, Leta and Arthur enjoyed traveling, time at their cottage at Round Lake, and spending time with their family. Leta was a kind and generous person who deeply loved her family and will be greatly missed. Leta is survived by her son Terry (Sandie) of Calgary and her daughter-in-law Lynne of Ottawa; 4 grandchildren Kimberly (Ryan McMahon) and Garett, both of Calgary, David (Alejandra) of Toronto and Kristofor of Ottawa as well as 5 great grandchildren – Kier, Tate, Scarlett, Kevin and Oscar. She is also survived by one sister, Jean Ovans of Regina and many nieces and nephews. Leta is predeceased by her husband Arthur, son Lynden, and 3 sisters – Sadie Gathercole, Enid Hawkes and Gladys White. A family graveside service with be held later in the spring.
